Bring Your Smile Back to Life
A dental implant is a small titanium screw that functions as an artificial tooth root. It is used to replace a missing natural root in order to support a dental restoration such as a crown or denture.
Before we start the dental implant procedure, we always carry out a thorough examination. This allows us to adapt the implants to your unique situation so that we can give you a restored smile.
At BUCCA Santé Dentaire, Dr. David Faucher uses technologies such as 3D cone beam radiology which can allow him to perform dental implant work with precision.
Dental Implant & Bone Grafting
Bone grafting is a surgery designed to strengthen a weakened jaw bone. When a patient is missing teeth but also has significant bone loss in their jaw, they will not be a candidate for dental implants. A bone graft allows patients to benefit from dental implants and replace missing teeth.
Types of Dental Implants
Teeth can be replaced with dental implants in three ways:
- A crown attached to the implant (replacement of a single tooth).
- A fixed bridge, attached to two or more implants (replacement of three or more teeth).
- A complete denture (removable or fixed) supported by four or more implants (replacement of all teeth).

-
Why choose dental implants rather than wearing dentures?
Implants will allow you to wear a strong, comfortable prosthesis and eat what you want, not just what you can. Significantly, did you know that implants will also prevent premature aging of your bones, and therefore your face?
-
Why choose an implant with a crown instead of a fixed bridge supported by natural teeth?
In order to accommodate a fixed bridge, natural teeth on either side of the bridge must be modified significantly. It is not ideal to do this if the teeth are in good condition.
A dental implant with a crown allows the missing tooth to be replaced while maintaining the integrity of the adjacent teeth.

Can you get dental implants at any age?
Dental implants are only placed once all adult teeth have fully grown in. It is essential to assess bone growth, often using an X-ray, which is done around age 18 or later. Implants can also be placed in older adults and seniors, depending on the patient's general health.
-
How long does the dental implant process take?
Every situation is different. In some cases, a temporary tooth can be fixed the same day and in more complex cases, a few months will be required. We will do everything to ensure that you receive your teeth as quickly as possible and in a safe manner.
-
How long does a dental implant last?
As with a natural tooth, several factors come into play. Hygiene, bruxism, smoking and changes in health are important and variable factors. Our goal is that patients can receive many years of comfort from their treatment.
-
Does getting a dental implant hurt?
We use local anesthesia combined with oral sedation to allow the procedure to be performed as comfortably as possible. You will then be prescribed appropriate painkillers to aid your recovery.
